Hello! Welcome to Paint, Pencils & Ink!

I’m an artist/illustrator based in the Scottish Countryside in between Glasgow & Loch Lomond, working from my home-studio alongside my dog Jeffers. I work mainly as a pet portrait artist, but I also love drawing all sorts of wildlife and their surroundings. Nature is a huge source of inspiration; I love being out and about with my sketchbook, as well as making a big mess at my desk. My work is always created by hand, my favourite materials being (yep, you guessed it) paint, pencils and ink.

This year I am embarking on a brand new body of work, and I’ll be using this space to share my progress and ideas as they develop. The good, bad and everything in between!

I’ll also chat about art materials, favourite artworks, thoughts on living a creative life, how much I love nature, and a little bit about this corner of Scotland I call home. As well as drawing & painting, I really enjoy writing, so this is a place for me to explore that too and see where it takes me.

How does it work?

At the moment all my posts are available to read for free! I’m planning to launch paid subscriptions later this year.

You’ll get posts sent straight to your inbox so you won’t miss out on anything. I really recommend getting the Substack app too - it’s lovely to use and feels a bit like a nice magazine to browse through.
