It’s been a quiet week here, so this is a short-ish post, with more photos than writing. I have been a bit under the weather so the last few days have been spent sitting under a blanket on the sofa with Jeffers, listening to the birds and watching them fly past the window, and trying not to look at my phone every 5 minutes. It’s difficult not to feel guilty for not doing anything productive. I did have a free week (aside from very boring errands and housework that you don’t need to hear about) to try and do some painting but instead I’ve spent it having a much-needed rest. Which is often more productive than trying to muddle through when you just don’t have the energy.
Anyway. I’m not here to write about how I’ve been sat doing nothing all week, promise. I have also been making sure I get outside to enjoy this gorgeous early-Spring sunshine and I wanted to share some of that here. The light is so beautiful and golden and soft.
Yesterday evening I took Jeffers to one of our favourite spots to go for a walk as the sun sets, Milarrochy Bay. The shores of Loch Lomond are on one side, and a forest of spindly trees is on the other. I love the twisting shapes of these trees, and some grow almost on stilts, with roots rising up above the ground. I love the rough textures in the undergrowth, and the unruly tangledness of it all. It is equally pleasing to see fresh bright green leaves bursting to life, and lots of tiny buds just waiting until they are ready. A bit like me.
Oh this place looks wonderful Fiona! That second photo, with the light on the water... 🥹... and those trees on stilts! You can really see this in the third photo - incredible. What a beautiful spot to walk together.
Hope you feel better soon. You're right, sometimes your body just tells you (firmly) that it needs a bit of rest and recharging time... x
